Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. -John Wooden

Don't be so mindful of what people think about you, rather be mindful of what God think about you. (: HE has good thoughts about us!

It takes courage to love, but pain through love is the purifying fire which those who love generously know. We all know people who are so much afraid of pain that they shut themselves up like clams in a shell and, giving out nothing, receive nothing and therefore shrink until life is a mere living death. -Eleanor Roosevelt

PRESENCE OF GOD! **** (part 2)

Friends, just want to share with you all on some thoughts and revelations. :)
Recently, I feel that God has been emphasizing the importance of His presence and the desire to seek His presence, especially in the dry periods and periods of trials of lives.

Look at the example of David, the reason why he was favored so much in the eyes of the Lord was because of his attitude in handling his toughest moments in his life – to seek God’s presence, to never let go of God.
This week’s sermon, Pastor Kong preached about Jacob – about how he wrestled with God to get his blessing, about how he is unwilling to let God go until God touch him.

All of us have problems in seasons of our lives. I was looking at my past sermon notes, and found Mike Connell’s ‘Overcoming disappointments’ sermon.
There’s a difference between endurance and perseverance in tough seasons of your life.
Enduring
Persevering
忍 = placing a knife over your heart
Burying all your pain; accumulating it.
Joyful expectancy that the Lord will/ is able to help us.
Trust God today that He is an able God. He is able to transform you and bring you out of your valley.
Look for the right source to release your disappointment/hurts. Find rest in His presence and word.

Let go. Release. Forgive.
Open your heart to God.

God's presence

Hello fellow brothers and sisters! :)
Pastor Bobby came to preach in Choir practise, and he shared a fantastic sermon which I believe is a word in season for all of us.
So here it goes, my sermon notes (I summarized it so as to fit our attention span):

PRESENCE OF GOD
PS 23:4 - Fear no evil (e.g. job interview), for You're with me, not because of external factors (eg. skills)
What calms you down is God's presence.

2 Chro 7:14 - Seek God's face to conquer your problems.
"My face" in Hebrew is "paw-neem", which refers to presence

Therefore, the solution to every problem is to seek God's presence.

EXAMPLES
1) God delivered Israel out of Egypt by His presence. (Deut 4:35-39)
Nothing shall be against you when God is with you!

2) David VS Saul (both commited sin, but God chosen David, why? Because David did the right decision - to seek God's presence) Ps 27:7-11

HOW TO SEEK GOD'S PRESENCE?
1) have a great LOVE for God.
Prov 8:17
Love has different levels:
A. God draws near to you, meet your needs. honeymoon period.
B. You love God for who He is, not what He can do for you.
(Your reactions to your trials in life shows God how much you love Him)
Be addicted to God's presence.
Love God = Love His presence.

2) Seek His presence with DILLIGENCE.
Prov 4:23 - Guard your heart above all things = Seek God more than you seek any other thing.
This is the attitude and the way to find Him e.g. in your QT.
God as priority

Exo 33:15-20 - Moses is ready to die just to see God's face.
SACRIFICE = being fearless e.g. to put your other commitments aside to pray and read the Bible
There's no shortcut. Most of the times, we have to sacrifice to seek God.
e.g. waking up early just to seek Him

Let's go higher in our spiritual level! :D

Dear Friends, do you have any moments when some little things happen which you just don't seems to like the way how it happen. and that totally spoils your mood for the next few hours or even the whole day?

Here's something to share with you from joyce meyer's daily devotion:
Cease from anger and forsake wrath; fret not your self—it tends only to evildoing.
 Psalm 37:8

Whenever I find myself in a situation I can't do anything about, I have found that a good way to cast my care upon the Lord is simply to say, "Oh, well."

Take, for example, the morning that Dave spilled his orange juice in the car and got a little of it on my sweater. Immediately he said, "Devil, I'm not impressed." And I said, "Oh, well." So that problem was solved, and we pressed forward with the rest of our day. Some things just aren't worth getting upset about, yet many people do. Unfortunately a
large majority of Christians are upset, fretful, and full of anxiety most of the time. It is not the big things that get to them; it is the little things that don't fit into their plans. Instead of casting their care and just saying, "Oh well," they are always trying to do something about something they can't do anything about. On more than one occasion that simple
phrase "Oh, well" has really helped me to make it through.
